Crystallines = Rarest Sword

Crystallines = Lots of gold to buy them

Lots of gold needed to buy a crystalline = more work to earn gold

more work = sometimes grind or in most peoples cases grind

grind = something to work for, sense of achievement

no grind once everything else in game done = boring game

I could buy a r8 15>50 crystalline swords quite easily, at this point in the game when I could buy the rarest sword possible I got bored as there was nothing to work for.

With items worth less and less it means it is easier to obtain even the rarest items. Not rocket science is it?

I couldn't agree more with everything you said. /applause

On another note, least the new weapons added will keep some people interested

The game isn't advertised as less grind, period - just less grind to be on a level playing field. Unlike some other RPGs where you spend x hours just getting one piece of equipment with max stats, in Guild Wars you can get max equipment and max level easily.

Inscribable crystallines don't affect the casual/average player. All it does is drive crystalline prices down to midrange, which the casual player still isn't going to afford. People who want shiny stuff and farm day after day or powertrade - who aren't casual players - now can afford crystallines easier, that's it.

You can have your grind for something that is useless. I dont really care. But once again, you people are complaining about less grind in a game where less grind is the philosophy.

If you've done "everything" in the game then you've done everything, so how is it surprising that anyone can start getting bored? And that's where new content comes in. And I really dont see how grind makes things "unboring"

So you're already bored and can get the sword easily. So how does this change affect you now?

Rocket science? No. But why do you care so much about how easy it is for others to get stuff? You yourself just said you can get the rarest sword in the game easily already, so how would this affect you?

So how is that a problem? As I said before, I don't care about crystallines and this change doesnt affect me at all. But I dont understand why it's such a big deal that others can get them more easily now. I didnt want to believe it was just an ego and bragging rights thing but that's what it's starting to look like here.

Umm then why did you list your reason as that it was free?
I was generalising about why some people choose to play this game over other better games.

Well umm good for you. Not sure what the point was.

LES GRIND ISNT THE PHILOSOPHY. AS SAVIO STATED ITS ABOUT BEING ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD.

MAYBE BECAUSE I HAVE QUESTED AND PVPED TOO MUCH AND INSTEAD WANT TO COLLECT THE NICE ITEMS AVAILABLE IN IT. I CAN SEEK ENJOYMENT FROM DOING IT, LIKE SAY STAMP COLLECTING. WHAT I DONT NEED IS PEOPLE SAYING, "COLLECTING ITEMS IS NOT FUN OR SOMETHING GOOD TO DO," AS I ENJOY IT.

THE "I CAN AFFORD ANYTHING I LIKE" POINT WAS IF ITEMS ARE WORTH LESS AND LESS SO PEOPLE CAN BUY MORE AND MORE IT WILL GET BORING FOR THEM. I GOT BORED WHEN I COULD BUY ANYTHING WITH THE GOLD I HAD. WITH GOLD BUYING MORE AND MORE ITEMS AS THEY ARE WORTH LESS THEY TOO LIKE ME WILL GET BORED ONCE THEY CAN OBTAIN ITEMS EASIER AND QUICKER THAN EVER BEFORE. AGAIN I USE THE EXMAPLE OF STANP COLLECTING, IT WOULD BE BORING IF YOU COULD BUY ANY STAMP NO MATTER HOW RARE IT WAS FOR LITTLE MONEY.

For me I always buy the best, whether it is in a game or real life. I strive to be the best and enjoy working towards nice things whether they be high end clothes or high end weapons in a game. What sucks though is to have that exclustivity destroyed due to the whining masses. I am motivated by money and I am not ashamed to admit that. And i care about gw still because I know it will ruin a game for many people.

Wow calm down. Anyway, I'm done stating my opinions because obviously it's a heated topic. Good luck with the grind and boredom thing.

Some items should be very, very rare and special. I'm still not sure how making crystalines inscribable is going to wreck them though?

It's the principle..I couldn't care less about the skin itself (who actually likes the skin?) its the fact Anet are going out of their way to ruin the only thing for some of us have to do after we finished questing.

I don't like the titles rubbish
I don't PvP
I'm not interested in completeing every single quest for every single proffesion

I think I see what you're saying... "Why bother striving for perfect if you can just manufacture perfect" Am I right?

Kind of like I used to get excited when I saw a gold hit the ground and crossed my fingers while I.D.ing it back in Prophecies, but couldn't care less now. Ya, that particular sense of luck and/or accomplishment is long long gone.

Exactly my point. There is nothing to strive for now.

Crystallines aren't for casual players, just like FoW armor isn't for casual players.

Hehe, this inscribable crystalline shiz is EXACTLY the reason why I didn't buy one with all the cash I have. I saw it coming, I know a lot of other players did too, and it kind of makes me chuckle to see what this game has come down to.

PvE=Dead

For some reason people dont complain as much about FOW armor as they do expensive items... Same principle though.

For me PVP died when 8 man ha disappeared. PVE died when Prophecies got played to death and Factions sucked majorly.

Good thing they are thinking about brining back 8v8 Herb.

I am sick and tired of the watering down of rare.

crystallines sucked,

if you want to buy a insanely priced swords with actually good skins, go for elementals and colossal scimitars

yes everyone has an opinion if you dont like it good for you, some people do infact like the look of elementals and crystallines so deal with it.

I think its good more casual players can now get crystallines, with the purples from kilroy chests and now inscribible ones from hoh:P what fun is a game where you have to farm endless hours just to get your favorite skin?

A solution presents itself!

Anet needs to offer a second version of guild wars, one which will be played on its own servers. It will offer codes which will give a player absolutely anything their heart desires with a single keystroke.

If you want to have anything at a keystroke, go get WOW and DL one of the many hacks available. No hacks for Guild Wars so far
